I could talk all day about these, but I don't think we have time for that. So today I'm just going to talk about Breyer model horses. Oh my gosh they look so real. I just love them. They're so beautiful!!!

Okay. Now, I think I said that there would be a craft project. On the Breyer website, there's a photo show. The theme is: Cold on the Range. Seems easy enough.
I thought I would have a snowy scene with a bundled up cowgirl, riding a horse western. She'll be bringing in her Clydesdale mare and foal in their green blankets. (My mom had the classic mare and foal Clydesdales set... So cool!!!)
Slight problem. I don't have any simple Clydesdale halters... Let alone any Clydesdale halters...
So what do I do? I make one!!! It might not turn out wonderful, but it's worth a shot!!!
So. You'll need:
-some ribbon, I used waxed string from May Arts
-if you want a lead line, a jump ring or two.
1. Measure about 3/4 of your wingspan in string. Cut it.
2. Fold the cut piece of string in half. Hold it at the folded end so that there's a loop at the end.
3. Hold that loop over your Breyer's nose.
4. Make a knot underneath, a little loose from its mouth.
4. Bring the string back towards the jaw.
5. Make a knot just short of the neck.
6. Now separate the two ends and bring them up around either side of the head.
7. Now let's focus on the right side of the head.
8. Fold the string on the right side (the one visible in the last picture) over so that it makes a loop.
9. Tie that loop in a know so that the string ends in a loop. Trim the excess string.
10. Back on the other side, we can use the string on the left side of the horse's head to go through that loop. To secure it so that you can still get it off, tie a single knot back onto itself.
And trim that string so that it's not too long. 😊
11. (You only have to follow this step if you want a lead line.) I'm doing the lead line on my foal first, so I put a jump ring right here:
Sorry, I used a pencil to point so it's easier to see where to put the jump ring. There's two strings there, so I just put it on one of the two so that it wouldn't slide up.
These are all the metal parts I used:
One of the two bigger jump rings goes on the string where I showed you, then taking the clip, attach the small jump ring to it, and then a large jump ring to the small jump ring.
It looks very professional and clean, neat, tidy, etc. that way! ☺️
Then taking some extra string, simply tie it in a double knot off of the bigger jump ring.
Now you can simply clip it on to the jump ring on the halter, and voila!
I did this again on the mare.
I'll try to remember to show you what I enter in the Breyer photo show!!!
